URL to PDF troubleshooting
Troubleshoot missing images, PDF page breaks, rate limits, busy conversions, extension debugger interruptions, and webpage display recovery.
The remote-browser, sign-in, and allowance rules below describe cloud conversion on the website. To save an open tab with the development extension, see the browser extension guide.
This URL to PDF troubleshooting guide covers problems caused by how the source website loads, responds to automated browsers, or rearranges itself at different viewport widths. Start with the smallest relevant change instead of changing every webpage to PDF setting at once.
Busy requests, rate limits, and exhausted allowances
A conversion error in this table is about request state, rate limits, or allowance, not about missing images.
| Message | Meaning | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Another conversion is running | A conversion request is still occupying your current identity | Wait, or, if signed in, use Close all tasks below Settings when you no longer need those tasks. |
| Too many requests | A request-frequency limit was reached | Wait as instructed. Closing tasks does not necessarily clear a rate limit, and repeated clicks can keep failing. |
| Not enough conversion time | Your remaining cloud allowance is insufficient | Check account usage and the reset time. |
| Extension Visual requires sign-in or access | The local editor's access check did not pass | Resolve sign-in or access in the extension's Account tab. |
Close all tasks affects your current identity's work in other tabs, including editing sessions you have not exported. Use it only when you no longer need those tasks. If the operation reports an error, read it; clicking the button does not establish that closing succeeded.
Extension interruptions and display problems
Do not dismiss the browser's debugger banner during conversion. Use cancellation inside the panel. If the connection has already been interrupted, end the task and reopen the extension popup. If Restore page display appears, use it to reset viewport and rendering overrides. It does not undo every webpage script or form change.
This URL to PDF troubleshooting notice is not a webpage overlay targeted by cleanup. Read why the debugger banner appears and follow the extension guide for URL to PDF recovery steps.
The preview looks right but the PDF does not
Quick creates an image-based PDF from captures. Custom and Visual use webpage screenshots for preview and a separate browser print pipeline for the PDF. Check loading and cleanup when the preview is missing images. Check paper, margins, scale, and Screen/Print when PDF pagination is wrong. Missing backgrounds may also come from the print-background setting.
When reporting a problem, include cloud or extension service, mode, viewport, rendering style, and whether both preview and PDF are affected. Include the failed stage and complete error code. Do not share cookies, passwords, tokens, or sensitive screenshots from private pages.
Pages the converter cannot reproduce reliably
The remote browser does not share your personal browser session. Pages behind a login, private dashboard, company network, paywall, or one-time access link may be unavailable or may show a public sign-in screen instead. Websites can also block automated browsers or require a challenge that the converter cannot complete.
Video, canvas animation, live maps, infinite feeds, and continuously changing dashboards may capture only the state visible when the screenshot or PDF is created. For an important document, always check the final pages before relying on them.
Error recovery
- If the result panel offers Retry, use it after changing the relevant setting.
- If a finished Quick or Custom response is interrupted while returning the result, keep the page open briefly while it checks the task again.
- Do not repeatedly submit the same URL in several tabs; concurrent requests are rejected and create unnecessary work.
- When your daily time is exhausted, wait for the next UTC reset or review the available plans.
Do not submit private information
Only convert pages you are allowed to access and store. Avoid URLs containing passwords, access tokens, personal documents, or other secrets.
If the problem continues, contact Support and include the public URL, selected mode, and the stage where the task stopped. Do not send passwords, cookies, or confidential page contents.
More URL to PDF troubleshooting guides
- Follow the Quick URL to PDF guide when a full-page capture has the wrong width, missing images, or a source-site challenge.
- Use the Custom webpage to PDF settings to adjust loading, viewport, paper layout, cleanup, and document output.
- Read Visual Editor troubleshooting and controls when the live preview, selected element, or editing session behaves unexpectedly.
- Check conversion time and account access when a conversion error refers to allowance, sign-in, or an expired editing window.
- Return to the online webpage to PDF converter after changing the relevant setting. Repeating the same URL to PDF request without a change usually produces the same result.
